Montana Rail Link around Bozeman Pass

Montana Rail Link has always been one of the largest and most interesting of the new crop of regional railroads.  Eighteen years later fans are flocking to the MRL to see the venerable 20 cylinder SD45's and F45's and the new SD70ACe's.  This program shows over 24 hours of action on the former Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern, now Montana Rail Link main line between Logan and Livingston in south-central Montana, including action on both sides of Bozeman Pass, in October of 2005.  76 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

Norfolk Southern's Columbus District

Although Norfolk Southern's Columbus District between Portsmouth, OH on the Ohio River and Columbus is not quite the conveyor belt for coal that it was forty years ago, it still handles a lot of coal, and non-coal traffic is growing.  This program shows over a day of action on NS's Columbus District between Chillicothe and Portsmouth in the beautiful Scioto Valley where it slices through the northern edge of the Appalachian plateau in May of 2006.  62 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

The Trains of Southern New England 2006

Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southern Massachusetts contain some fascinating railroading.  Amtrak finally has all of its Acela trains in operation, and several small New England railroads are showing significant growth in their business.  This program shows action on the regional railroads and most of the smaller railroads of southern New England in the spring of 2006.  The railroads covered include Amtrak's Springfield Line and electrified Northeast Corridor, the Providence and Worcester, New England Central, Housatonic Railroad and a couple of shortlines.  109 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

Norfolk Southern's New Castle District

This program shows the wide variety of trains and operations for a day and a half on the north end of Norfolk Southern's New Castle District in northeastern Indiana between Muncie and Fort Wayne in May of 2006.  This is the line that truly tied together the Norfolk and Western and Southern Railway systems and allowed traffic off the Southern Railway in Cincinnati to reach Chicago.  70 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

UP's Moffat Line in 2006

This program shows 24 hours of action on UP's ex-Rio Grande Moffat Line in July of 2006 between Fraser and Kremmling, in central Colorado, west of the Moffat Tunnel.  The section of track between Fraser and Kremmling includes scenic Byers Canyon and the steepest grades against loaded coal trains.  And BNSF has overhead rights on this line for their trains between Denver and northern California.  Amtrak's California Zephyr is a daily visitor also.  78 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

The Show along Route 66

Route 66 and BNSF's Chicago to LA main, a.k.a. the Transcon, are close companions across the southwestern desert.  And with upwards of 100 trains and 4000 truckers' trailers and containers a day, the Transcon for railfans is "the greatest show on earth".  This program shows 24 hours of incredible action between the mouth of scenic Crozier Canyon and Kingman in northern Arizona in July of 2006.  4 hours, 34 minutes.  2 tape/ 3 DVD set.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.

UP Sunset Route 2006

This program shows how the storied Sunset Route is faring in the summer of 2006 by showing all the trains around Willcox in the Sonora Desert in southern Arizona.  Wilcox is 86 miles east of Tucson.  The number of trains and congestion have both increased on this historic line in recent years.  This program shows every train for nearly 28 hours on UP's Lordsburg Subdivision between Willcox and the summit of the Dragoon Mountains at Dragoon in late June of 2006, with many trains powered by UP's newest locomotives.  120 minutes. NS Greenville to Atlanta Main

This program shows the trains and operations including Amtrak's New York to New Orleans Crescent for over 24 hours on the historic Washington to Atlanta main line of the former Southern Railway System around Clemson, South Carolina in October of 2006.  Clemson is thirty miles south of Greenville in the rolling Piedmont Region of South Carolina.  This  line is part of Norfolk Southern's busy artery between the Northeast and Southeast and the traffic on this line has grown since NS took over their share of Conrail 7 years ago.  61 minutes.  The DVD on this program has the option of being watched with or without narration.
