BC Rail's North End

This tape covers operations on BC Rail lines north of Prince George. The six axle Alcos are gone but the remaining four axle Alcos make the North End their home. This tape shows trains on the Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson lines, and then 24 hrs. of action on the Chetwynd sub north of Prince George, BC Rail's busiest line, in July of 1997. The electrics and trains into Prince George from the south are also shown. 60 minutes.

CP around Kicking Horse Pass

Canadian Pacific's main transcontinental line through the Rockies runs over spectacular Kicking Horse Pass in Banff and Yoho National Parks.  The famous spiral tunnels are on the steeply graded west slope and the east slope follows the scenic Bow River.  This video shows 32 hours of action between Morant's curve along the Bow River and Golden at the base of the lower Kicking Horse Canyon in July 1997. 106 minutes.

Montana Rail Link in the Rockies

Montana Rail Link is one of the largest and most dynamic of the new Regional Railways. This video shows over 30 hours of awesome action on MRL in the Rocky Mountains on Mullan Pass with its steep grades and on both sides of Winston Hill, east of Helena, in July of 1997. Three sets of pushers based at Helena are kept busy. 108 minutes.

BNSF - UP Puget Sound Joint Line

The busiest rail line in the Pacific Northwest in the BNSF - UP Joint Line between Seattle and Portland.  This tape shows 24 hours of action on this line around Centralia, WA, midway between Seattle and Portland in July of 1997.  Nearly 50 freights, locals, and Amtrak trains run daily on this scenic but seldom photographed or written about line.  87 minutes.

BNSF on Marias Pass

This videotape shows a day and a half of action in July of 1997 between Whitefish and Browning in northern Montana amid the beauty of Marias Pass which runs along the southern boundary of Glacier National Park.  BNSF's busy main line between Chicago and Seattle runs through this beautifull but accessible pass.  Pushers, mountain grades, high bridges, new BNSF orange and green units - Marias has it all.  115 minutes.

Canadian National on Yellowhead Pass

Yellowhead Pass in the majestic Canadian Rockies, west of Jasper, Alberta, is the lowest rail crossing of the continental divide in the Rockies.  All CN transcontinental traffic and Via's trains run through Yellowhead.  CN's business has grown rapidly with nearly 40 trains a day through Yellowhead when this was videotaped in July of 1997.  93 minutes.

UP and BNSF at Rochelle, Illinois

Rochelle, 75 miles west of Chicago, is one of the most visited railfan hot spots in the Midwest with 85 trains hammering the diamonds on a good day.  The former CNW, now UP main line to Omaha crosses the former BN, now BNSF line to the Twin Cities at grade.  A park was being built next to the diamonds when this was shot in Sept. 1997.  Most any type of train and run-through power can be seen.  CN's trains from Duluth run through Rochelle also.  3 hours, 52 minutes. 3 DVD, 2 tape set.

Conrail in the Berkshires

This tape shows the current trains and operations on the first mountain railroad in the World, Conrail's former Boston and Albany line, at peak fall foliage in October of 1997.  We caught a day and a half of Conrail action on the steep grades between Chester and Pittsfield, including plenty of SD80MAC's.  89 minutes.

Midwest Regionals 1997

This videotape shows the trains and operations on five regional railroads in the Midwest in the fall of 1997. This tape is a last look at the Chicago, Central, & Pacific which was recently reacquired by the IC, and a 1st look at the five month old I&M Rail Link.  We caught quite a few trains on the other 3 Midwest regionals - the Toledo, Peoria, and Western, Iowa Interstate, and Dakota, Minnesota, and Eastern.  There were many 1st generation units on these railroads including two Alcos.  132 minutes.

Watseka - Illinois Hot Spot

Watseka, 77 miles south of Chicago, is where the UP's line to Texas crosses the TP&W.  The CSX trains from Chicago to the Southeast and CP trains to Louisville have trackage rights on the UP to Woodland Jct. 5 miles to the south.  As many as 50 trains hammer the diamonds at Watseka.  This video shows 24 hours of action at Watseka and Woodland Jct. in Sept. 1997.  Watseka deserves to be called a Hot Spot as it was in Trains Magazine.  110 minutes.
