C. by rail, is one of the most historic rail junctions in this country. Here, the Baltimore and Ohio's original main line from Baltimore, joins up with the B&O line from Washington. This CSX line from Baltimore is now appropriately named the Old Main Line Subdivision. The Old Main Line sub meets the Metropolitan Sub from Washington in front of the equally historic Point of Rocks station. UP's ex-MP & SP Arkansas MainsIn early 1998 Union Pacific converted its former MP and SP main lines through Arkansas to directional running. The ex-Cotton Belt main handled southbounds between the upper Midwest and Texas, while the ex-MP main handled mostly northbounds. BNSF trains run on these lines - a condition of the UP-SP merger. This program shows 24 hours of action on each of these lines in October 2004. All kinds of leased, borrowed, and run-through power is on these trains.
